Woman Possesses Amazing Ability to Write With Both Hands

Contact Us

To most, the idea of being capable of writing with both hands is already hard to envision. But how about being ambidextrous and possessing the ability to write with a pencil in two different languages that go in dissimilar directions? To 24-year-old Chen Siyuan the idea isn’t that hard to believe.

But don’t think the YouTube audience is the only one gaining from Chen’s abilities. The whiz is putting her talents to good use working as a Chinese-English translator.

Daily ETF Roundup: Fed Minutes Spook Stocks

Euphoria levels dropped off during the second day of trading in the new year as cautious commentary from the latest Fed minutes sent a wave of worry across Wall Street. Following Wednesday’s ferocious rally, profit taking pressures were quick to sweep in after the Federal Reserve said it plans to end its monthly bond-repurchase program sometime in 2013. Mixed economic news on the day only added to the clouds of uncertainty; the latest ADP employment report was upbeat, although weekly jobless claims came in higher-than-expected [Download Seven Simple & Cheap ETF Model Portfolios].

Markets took cues from the Fed’s cautious outlook, which served as a warning sign that ongoing stimulus efforts could soon come to an end. Selling pressures hit the Nasdaq ETF (QQQ, A-) the hardest, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (DIA, B) proved most resilient on the day.

On the international front, profit taking pressures also ensued and the European ETF (VGK, A+) tallied a 1.17% loss on the day; the SPDR China ETF (GXC, A) turned in the best performance, although it too ended the session in negative territory.

The fixed income space wasn’t immune to profit taking pressures as made apparent by negative performances across the board; safe haven Treasuries fell the hardest while high-yield debt securities surprisingly held their ground amid the broad sell-off.

Commodity ETF Roundup

The U.S. Dollar Index gained nearly 1% on the day which didn’t resonate too well in the commodity space as futures prices slumped lower across the board. The metals group led the way lower with silver plunging upwards of 2%, while natural gas extended its losses and shed another 1.64% on the day.

The PowerShares WilderHill Clean Energy Portfolio (PBW, A) was one of the best performers, gaining an impressive 3.53% during an otherwise lackluster day on Wall Street. With no fundamental news taking place in the alternative energy sector, it’s fair to say that today’s price action was purely bargain buying [see Energy Bull ETFdb Portfolio].

The Van Eck Market Vectors Gold Miners (GDX, B) was one of the worst performers, shedding 4.16% on the day. Gold futures slipped lower settling just shy of the $1,660 an ounce level, dragging down mining equities along the way. Selling pressures in GDX accelerated in the afternoon, although the ETF ultimately ended the sessions with high-volume buying [see GLD-Free Gold Bug ETFdb Portfolio].

The best-performing Regional strategy over the past 13 weeks has been the Ex-U.S. ETFdb Portfolio, which has gained just over 6%.

Gold Rush of 2011 has started

Spectacular Views of the Dalton Trail

The first “Gold Rush to Porcupine Tour” started on Memorial day weekend with 10 people on board to the gold road to Porcupine.  We drove up the scenic Haines Highway through the Bald Eagle Preserve.  Joe Ordonez and CJ Jones gave excellent commentary of the area and the rich history of Dalton’s Trail.  We crossed over the Klehini River and into the Porcupine Gold District of 1898.

Dandelions in bloom – they may be weeds but they are sure pretty

We visited 16 yr old Parker Schnabel at his Big Nugget Mine where  their operation is in full swing.  Parker explained the workings of the “grizzly” and “jig” while we stood beside the raging Porcupine Creek.

It is pretty awesome to see a 16 yr old young man in charge of his grandfather’s, John Schnabel, successful Gold Mine of 25 years.  Normally, it is hard just to get a 16 yr old to make their bed….and here Parker is running the gold mine and allowing tours to come and catch gold fever by panning for the rich yellow nuggets.

Parker brought each of us a pan and a bag of dirt so we could try our luck.  Soon everyone was working the pan like pros and after a bit you could hear the holler of delight as they glimpsed gold in the bottom of their pan!  Everyone was thrilled to find $20 to $30 dollar nuggets in their pan!  Parker is a great gold host.

Parker, of course, is a pro…..so he found a bit more in his pan.  We were all smiles as we said our good byes to Parker and Big Nugget Gold Mine.  We made a last stop by Porcupine Creek where a veranda and chairs are available to sit and take in the gorgeous views of the mountains and creek……oh, and the Discovery Channel’s hit TV Show, “Gold Rush: ALASKA”.

Their gold mine operation is right there and visible for a sneak peak at the happenings on the site. You can’t see their set up from the main road, they have it blocked off to visitors.  The only way to view their mine is on the Schnabel’s land, as they are neighbors with the Porcupine Creek in the middle.

We had 3 tours go out for our starting week of the Gold Rush to Porcupine Tour. Gold Fever was contagious with many saying they want to come back for more gold panning.  They also said they would check out Discovery Channel’s TV show next season as Parker Schnabel is being filmed more often this summer and may become a little celebrity himself.  He is such a cute kid, he deserves all the success in the world!

Adam Levine to Make His 'Saturday Night Live' Hosting Debut in January

Adam LevineMichael Loccisano, Getty Images

While we are kind of bummed the holiday celebrations are officially over (womp, womp), we now have a reason to continue celebrating the new year!

Earlier today, thanks to the ever popular Twitter, we learned that our he-doesn’t-know-it-yet boyfriend Adam Levine is set to host ‘Saturday Night Live’ on January 26th! Yes, you read that right! Levine will be hosting the late-night sketch comedy show, not performing with Maroon 5.

As bummed as we are that he and the band won’t be playing any of their hits from their latest release ‘Overexposed,’ we’re kind of thrilled to see how Levine will handle live-acting duties; more importantly, we’re more than hoping that he’ll suffer a comedic break during a sketch and laugh uncontrollably.

Those are always the best parts, right?

But if you’re kind of disappointed that Maroon 5 will most likely be a no-show, have no fear. The folks over at ‘SNL’ did us viewers a solid by pairing up our yummy host with musical guest Kendrick Lamar, so it’s sure to be a helluva episode.

So, make sure you set your DVR’s and get your comfiest pants ready, because if his too-soon appearance on ‘American Horror Story: Asylum’ showed us anything, it’s that he surely won’t disappoint.

Next: Vote Adam Levine for Hottest Shirtless Bod!

Is Bethenny Frankel a weight loss expert too?

1

Bethenny Frankel finally has something to celebrate. Just weeks after announcing her separation from her husband of two years, Jason Hoppy, Bethenny is sharing in the happiness of her good friend Nick Feitel who she helped lose over 60 pounds — something she refers to as a “manformation.”

Nick, who was added as a culinary columnist on Bethenny’s website last year, tipped the scales at 225 pounds and had been seriously lacking in confidence. ”I wouldn’t go shopping for clothes because I’d be like, Well, these all look bad on me,” he tells PEOPLE Magazine.

“You were sheepish. Self-loathing,” Bethenny adds. “I gave him [my book] Naturally Thin and said, You’re going to unleash your skinnygirl.” Along with her book, she introduced Nick to yoga which helped him slim down to just 159 pounds.

“When I met Nick, he wasn’t open, he hadn’t blossomed. So I’m just happy that you feel confident and happier,” Bethenny tells her friend. “You’ve evolved.”

Nick captured the hearts of reality TV fans (and food fans) when he interviewed to be an intern for Bethenny on her spin-off, Bethenny Ever After. Nick was noticably shy and seemed to be uncomfortable in his own skin — a far cry from the new photo you see of him above.
