Guys I just got a new claim on a old mine in nc it was in the group with reeds and phoenix mine so happy I'm taking my metal detector back and I'll try to find some artifacts and also taking my sluice oh my gosh I'm so happy woooooohooooo

As far as I know there is still a few claims in the east that have been kept through family's since the 1800's.Not sure about NC but I know of a few in Alabama.

While there are no mineral claims per se, in North Carolina there is a such thing as mineral rights to prtivate property that is either owned or not owned by the person holding those rights. And on certain forest service lands.
