After removing write-downs and exceptional costs, gold companies spent almost $1300 per ounce to extract gold in 2012. I remember when gold was around 800/oz. Newmont said at the time their costs were about 300/oz - a much better spread!jeff of pa likes this. they hear the word gold & think "Ca-Ching" Gouging time
& you know some of the Miners are making Millions in spite of being gouged.
