Panned the first pound of paydirt, bought as a training project for the family. Haven't panned out the flour gold yet, but so far weighed out 0.058g of flake gold. Good deal!kuger likes this.

Glad you are having fun with it. I suggest when you are "done" with that pound of dirt, set it aside rather than tossing it in your garden. After ou are more experienced, come back to it to reprocess.kuger likes this.
Now it's time to go find some wild gold!

Yes, Kevin, it is saved. Watched a YouTube video today on panning fine gold and saw that it requires time and patience. I see flour gold in the dirt but don't have the experience or patience to work it right now. One thing is for certain, it won't be going anywhere.
I'd like to start looking for wild gold, but I'm learning how to read rivers, thinking that I'd be wasting my resources just going out an digging anywhere.
There is supposed to be a gully-washer of a storm moving through western Oregon this weekend, so maybe some time next week would be good, though I'm not sure of that either. What do you think?

What do you think?Karen with this storm coming through there's going to be lots of snow in the higher elevations as well as beau-coo rain. If there's no more rain after the weekend it would take at least a week for the streams and rivers to come down enough to expose the gravel bars on the inside bends so you can get in there and dig up all that gold. Slow water is good, fast water is not so good.kuger likes this.
